Yes, I thought the animation was fairly accurate in illustrating the male ego in superficial relationships.

It seems to me that we don't ask the questions because we are certain that we won't like the answers. Yet, I've found that the answers are liberating, that is, if the right questions are asked.

Oh, that's weird. One ex-husband and two significant relationships afterward stopped in that phase of "noticing other girls looking you over" and the conflict was so great for these men that they went skipping down the yellow brick road to investigate. I don't know if curiosity ever killed the cat or if people simply fail to ask the honest question of themselves from the beginning.

Everybody is the man/woman behind the curtain, manipulating that big old wizard head. When caught in deception, feeling the sting of loneliness or dull repetition, just fly off in an air balloon somewhere to begin the "same old/brand new day" thing all over again. It seems so desperately horrible, if one really thinks about it.

I think those who find simple companionship are the fortunate ones. In companionship, love's many splendorous thing is not so much seen as salvation, but perhaps a by-product of something which at least strives to be authentic.

But maybe not, I don't know.
