Some will come out of it with genuine "awakening", if you want to use that word, and closeness but most will not and thus go their separate ways back into the realm of shadows and strangers."

Yes! That has always interested me, with regard to the degree of egocentric dissolving (for lack of a better term). Thanks for reminding me of that aspect since I've thought about that often. Unfortunately it seems widespread severe suffering is the catalyst...and yes, it rarely lasts.

"I somehow sense the cycle can be broken, but it takes the unveiling of the artifice and from what I witness people have a vice grip on denial with almost a quest for solid narcissism (and prefereably without guilt). How do you break that impediment down in seeking mutual "awakening"?"

I'm not sure. However, i suppose if enough minds get together on it, something should come up....hopefully soon...

"until the cover-up (sham, if you will)is dissolved, thereby creating absolute trust and honesty, no two or more can have a deeper communication with each other or to go forward from that point. That willingness to confront the cover-up without agenda has to be greater than the fear of exposure and the familiarity of repetitive patterns to the good or the ill."

Indeed. I imagine if a few can do it, more could. But, you're correct, it does tend to go against the grain and would be quite frightening for folks to exchange their individualistic goals for mutual goals even if doing so was simply with one other person.

That is my general thesis, in that dogmatic communes are unnecessary, simply turn to those closest to you and fully engage. No need to adopt an ideology or religion just deeply join with the people around you. Everything you need to learn will be taught in that depth and nothing more will be needed.

However, as Floyd once said:

"But it was only fantasy
The wall was too high
As you can see.
No matter how he tried
He could not break free.
And the worms ate into his brain"

But I will continue to fantasize...until the worms...

Thanks and blessings to you, Nahnni,
mikeS

No One,

Not so much a navigation device, as filled with hot air.

Blessings to you Mike :)

Stanley Sobottka is a bit dry, but marvelous.

Stanley Sobottka is a bit dry, but marvelous.

My mind sometimes splits with this concept, Mike. ...

My mind sometimes splits with this concept, Mike. One the one hand, it seems that to follow the lemmings and possibly over a cliff speaks of lack of critical thinking (which may be sparked in one mind or several together, true)and on the other hand it is more broadening to circle around the table in a meeting of minds, but only if there is not the set up of the "wise" leader and a submission to that.

There is the double message in this culture that it is self-defeating(weak)to be dependent and yet, one must be independent to be be worth the grain of salt. That is the message. Society rejects the lonely, the eccentric and at the same time worships the lone and confident horseman for his strength and mystique. Social circles set up scapegoats and embrace the sacred conclave. In effect, everything becomes institutionalized and creativity squashed.

Have you read any works by the late cultural anthropologist, Jules Henry? Specifically, the collection of essays: "On Sham, Vulnerability and Other Forms of Self-Destruction." Henry works on the premise that western culture sets up sham and vulnerability right from the beginning (although I don't see the Latin West as exclusive to this). What you are talking about goes above and beyond the artificial, and that really does go against the grain; however, when there is a catastrophe, minds will come together in an almost miraculous synchronicity of cooperation and when things stabilize, that cooperation begins to dissolve...which is interesting. Some will come out of it with genuine "awakening", if you want to use that word, and closeness but most will not and thus go their separate ways back into the realm of shadows and strangers.

One almost has to tear down the sham brick by brick, but that doesn't happen. Even if you touch a moment of "truth", the sham quickly
rebuilds itself. The stronger the sham, the more it will attempt to crush the weakest link. Engagement becomes a dog chasing its tail and correctness is a strengthening of that chase. Punditry is a good example of this and the use of continual platitudes.

I somehow sense the cycle can be broken, but it takes the unveiling of the artifice and from what I witness people have a vice grip on denial with almost a quest for solid narcissism (and prefereably without guilt). How do you break that impediment down in seeking mutual "awakening"?

Thanks,
Nahnni

The Gonzalez painting is rather superb.

Playing all the "time".

Playing all the "time".

No One,
