Do you believe your ego will allow you to perform ‘practices’ that actually seek to transcend, in fact, annihilate, the ego itself? Do you think that you can single handedly absolve your 'self' of all your “personal shadows” in order to achieve “enlightenment”? Do you believe that, as a separate individual, "you" can ‘awaken,’ while other 'individuals' remain ‘asleep,' know truth, while other 'individuals' remain ignorant?
Such wishful thinking results from centuries of pervasive and highly restrictive cultural and social conditioning and demonstrates how rigidly the ego is anchored to conventional paradigms of learning, since convention is entirely inherited from the past.
Buddha’s supposed admonition, to forget everything you’ve learned, seems to have fallen on deaf ears, since the “masters” can't help but teach what the past taught them.
Look closely at any religious or spiritual ideology and you will see a foundation of narcissism that keeps the whole ideological edifice from crumbling. Individual "enlightenment" or "salvation" is the ego's most sought after experience. Any collective enrichment, or evolving, is negated and such is the world we experience; a world of inequalities, subordination and exploitation.
The individual paradigm is narcissistic and every ideology that teaches from that context merely perpetuates the same old divisive conventions of the past. You seek to transcend the individual ego-self and by doing so, only wind up further reinforcing and magnifying its autonomous separate existence.
Of course, you will feel “enlightened,” since you’ve done nothing more than attain the rewards of an Uberego (super ego) and that feels great!
These paths to ‘enlightenment’ are served up to 'individuals,' but have yet to provide any value to collective humanity, that which every 'individual' is indivisibly connected. Individuals cannot possibly support a unified ‘engagement’ through individualized paradigms, or models, of evolving, just more of the same self-absorbed narcissism that "you" have become accustomed to.
Just visit many of the popular "enlightenment," "awakening" and "non-duality" blogs and you will see the pervasive pattern of "you too, can be like me."
The Uberego is an inflated, grandiose ‘self,' psychically inflated by fully adopting the assumptions of an ideology and any learned "path' is nothing more than an ideology, a belief system, a pattern of thought, a 'way' of thinking. This will lead you nowhere, except back to an ego-self.
Whether it be capitalism, christianity, communism, buddhism, non-dualism, etc, etc, once the ego adopts the ordained “sacralized” thought patterns, there is often no turning back and history proves that egos will literally die to protect their adopted ideology.
So why do they continue to deny truth by advocating individualized goals of separate self-absorption?
If you believe you have transcended your individual 'shadows,' but still ‘see’ shadows in the world, make no mistake, you are egoically deluded (but then, that's what egos are). If the “you,” or self-concept you idolize as identity, is illusional, then clearly the shadows attributed to it are just as unreal.
So what are you seeking to transcend?
The Uberego is the epitome of narcissism and it's an experience of magnified grandiosity confused with state of egoless "enlightenment."
The ego certainly does “awaken,’ but only to an inflated grandiose self, pumped up beyond past recognition and spouting the morality of an ideology, thereby constructing a new past. This is primarily why every modern so-called ‘guru’ eventually winds up involved in some form of corruption or infidelity.
Yet, we conveniently ignore all that, because we are egoic and all egos idolize and seek to claim the Uberego. You do not desire the end to your ego-self. What you desire is absolute egoic omnipotence and you seek for those who can give it to you.
Man has a love/hate relationship with man and generally, we find the collective reprehensible and repulsive. We have a feeling of disgust for humanity in the egoic denial that we are all indivisible. So we branch off and escape into our separate, holier than thou, religious and spiritual enclaves in an effort to differentiate between thee and thou or good and evil. This does not require the joining of an organized body or church, merely adopt a belief system and you are there.
The ego must collude with other egos, because they serve to support its narcissist actualization as the Uberego. Yet, because this is the ultimate in narcissism, others don’t really matter, except in their supporting individual, finite, egoic transcendence. We may work together in seeking to ascend, but if you 'rise up' before me, make no mistake, I become subordinate in the hierarchy of ego-self. This nullifies the very idea that 'enlightenment' is perfect, timeless and unified equality.
But what autonomous ego wants to be equal? No we want the Uberego!
However, there is a foolproof method of recognizing your retreat from pursuing the Uberego. When your own personal interests suddenly become invisible and undifferentiated from another, thereby dissolving the capacity for judgment. From this point fear is dissolved and the narcissistic Uberego cannot continue without fear as foundation and this automatically alters perception, which only exists to judge differences between thee and thou.
Narcissistic shadows exist on levels and by degrees, but healed perception nullifies all levels and degrees and, therefore, shadows cannot exist in such a void. Healed perception seeks to learn from those who are not saviors, gurus, priests, etc, the path to enlightenment or salvation. If you look to those around you and see no ego, then rest assured we are all free.
In your so called, non-dualistic, egoless, "enlightenment," if you see an ego-self in "me," make no mistake, "you" may have achieved the Uberego....
...but NO enlightenment.
